Nothing says Christmas in Florida like a tree placed atop the steepest and fastest hybrid roller coaster in the world.
Busch Gardens tweeted out a video of a Christmas tree and a fluttering American flag placed atop the forthcoming Iron Gwazi roller coaster, now under construction.
“We put a Christmas tree on top of a roller coaster. What’d you do today?” the Tampa theme park’s official account tweeted.
Its sister park in Virginia pulled the same stunt, adding an extra festive touch to the top of its newest roller coaster, Pantheon. The tree even lights up for visitors at night.
In Tampa, Busch Gardens posted a drone video that goes from a joyous picture to a horror movie as it reveals the serious dive the coaster will take.
Iron Gwazi is a hybrid steel and wooden roller coaster that will open in spring 2020. It reuses a large portion of the wooden structure that existed when the coaster was known as Gwazi and closed in 2015.
The ride will be the tallest hybrid roller coaster in North America when it debuts, as well as the steepest and fastest hybrid roller coaster in the world, plunging riders from a 206-foot-tall peak into a 91-degree drop and reaching top speeds of 76 miles per hour.
