Tampa Bay bookstores postpone author events due to coronavirus

Two of the Tampa Bay area’s independent bookstores have postponed author events in response to the coronavirus.

The Oxford Exchange bookstore in Tampa has canceled events at the bookstore through March, according to bookstore manager Laura Taylor. Some events may be rescheduled later; for updates, visit or call (813) 253-0222.

Tombolo Books in St. Petersburg has postponed all of its scheduled March and April events. Store owner Alsace Walentine announced on Tombolo’s Facebook page that the store will remain open for now.

Customers can also order books for mail delivery at or (727) 755-9456, request downtown delivery for $5 or purchase books online and stop by for curbside pickup at the store at 2153 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg.

In other book-related cancellations, Saint Leo University has canceled its 2020 Sandhill Writers Retreat, scheduled for May.
