Crab Devil is a Tampa-based multimedia arts collective consisting of members from Tempus Projects, Cunsthaus, LiveWork Studios and others that was formed to produce an immersive art experience called the Peninsularium.

In a news release, Crab Devil announced that it is looking for artists working in any media to create objects for its Cabinet of Curiosities, inspired by “Florida’s kitsch, bizarre history, and fantastical lore.” The Peninsularium is a Florida-themed attraction that will switch out exhibits over time. The Cabinet of Curiosities will be the permanent installation there.

Objects should be “extraordinary, bizarre, and unsettling 2D and 3D creations to be included in our contemporary Wunderkammer.”

The Peninsularium will be organized on a dynamic equity model that will invest artists and other contributors with an equity stake in the business. Peninsularium will be in Tempus Projects’ new gallery space and the Deviant Libation brewery.

Artists may submit five completed pieces or five proposed pieces to be considered. Crab Devil’s budget for purchase or commission is $25 to $2,500 per piece. There is no fee to submit, but entries must be formatted into one single PDF and emailed to submissions@crabdevil.com with subject line: “FULL NAME, Cabinet of Curiosities Submission”.

Entries are due by 6 p.m. July 1. For the full list of submission guidelines, visit crabdevil.com.
