Olivia, the anticipated Italian restaurant from local chef and James Beard Award semifinalist Chris Ponte and his family, is now open.

Opened on Nov. 27 at 3601 W Swann Ave., the chic South Tampa arrival takes a modern approach to traditional trattoria flavors, churning out everything from charcuterie and meatballs to pastas and chicken milanese. And it invites you to watch fresh dough and mozzarella be made on-site.

The restaurant uses an Italian Forza Forni pizza oven for its pies, which come eight ways: heirloom tomato (burrata, red onions, basil, garlic) and soppressata (mozzarella, spicy honey, garlic, fresno chili) are among the options. Specialty cocktails, beer and a nice selection of American and Italian wines complement the grub.

Ponte is also behind Clearwater’s Cafe Ponte and On Swann at Tampa’s Hyde Park Village.
