The expanding concept started in South Tampa.

A new Datz location is taking shape in the former home of Eats! American Grill at Winthrop Town Centre in Riverview.

Owners Suzanne and Roger Perry opened their flagship restaurant in South Tampa a decade ago, and a second outpost in downtown St. Petersburg followed in June. There’s also a satellite Datz location at the Tampa Convention Center.

Roger Perry said the family-friendly area of Riverview plays into the Datz brand. This location should launch in early February.

“We love being next to the Publix, and this is really our first Datz restaurant with ample parking,” Perry said.

The restaurant is “typical Datz size,” featuring about 5,900 square feet of indoor space and two good-sized patios. It will accommodate 170 to 175 guests inside with seats for 30 on each patio. In addition, expect the same menu of over-the-top grub Datz is known for, plus a nice big bar.

Roger Perry said there isn’t another Datz site on the books, though they’re always looking for the right spot. Riverview’s location will join the larger Datz Restaurant Group family, including Datz in South Tampa and St. Petersburg, Dough in South Tampa, Dr. BBQ in St. Petersburg and the Canyon cafe at the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg.
