This new spot in Clearwater focuses on drinks, food for a healthy lifestyle

Opened on Feb. 10 in Clearwater’s Sunset Square plaza next to a Planet Fitness, the Healthy Hive focuses on a health-minded menu of energizing teas and protein smoothies. Owner Pilar Ferraz said her journey to “getting healthy and losing weight” was life-changing, and she wanted to help other women do the same by tapping into the “healthy lifestyle business.”

She creates the smoothies at her small cafe at 1891 N Highland Ave. using a low-calorie, nutritional shake mix that contains at least 15 grams of protein and a meal’s worth of vitamins and minerals. They come in several flavors, including strawberry banana, Oreo cookie dough, peanut brittle, coconut cream pie and vegan Lucky Charms.

Meanwhile, each tea contains a blend of black, orange pekoe and green teas.

“They are metabolism boosters, with antioxidants, and give lots of energy, but way more delicious than the regular tea flavor,” Ferraz said.

Pier 60 (with hints of lemon and pina colada) and Florida Swamp (a mashup of lemon, lime and green apple) are among the many tea options, and Ferraz said guests can customize them with additional ingredients like caffeine, probiotics and collagen.

And the possibilities go on, as the Healthy Hive also carries tea and smoothie combos, protein waffles, smoothie bowls, frappes, iced coffee, protein puddings and pre- and post-workout combos.

“The name Healthy Hive represents healthy community,” Ferraz said. “We wanted to create a safe space of people with similar goals, and make a positive impact on the lives of all our costumers.”
