Gator’s Dockside in Tampa closes permanently

The Florida chain is closing its Tampa location due to the coronavirus.

Tampa sports bar and restaurant Gator’s Dockside has permanently closed.

The local chain made the announcement on social media this week, and said the closure of its location at 5840 E Fowler Ave. near the University of South Florida was “due to COVID-19 complications.”

“After 17 years with you, we are sad to say goodbye,” the statement said.

The Florida restaurant group has locations all across the state and was a favorite with local sports fans. It was known for its expansive collection of big screen televisions, grilled wings and ribs. Following a statewide shutdown of all restaurants caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant’s Tampa location was offering to-go and delivery before announcing operations would shut down completely.

According to social media posts, only the Tampa location has closed. An email to the restaurant group for comment was not immediately returned.
