Many small businesses are being hit hard by the coronavirus, and Tampa Bay area brewers are no exception. For now, breweries are restricted to package sales.
Many still are open as local “safer at home” orders go into effect.
Even breweries without bottling or canning lines are filling growlers. You may not be able to get your own container filled, but some breweries, such as 7venth Sun locations in Dunedin and Tampa, are filling fresh growlers only, to avoid contamination. In many cases, new growlers will be available at a discount, such as the half-price deal at Safety’s Harbor’s Crooked Thumb.
Visit tampabaybeercrisis.com for a list that includes hours of operation, availability of to-go beers and, in many cases, links to live tap lists. You’ll find a similar list at suncoastbrews.com, which includes filters for can/bottle availability, growler fills and local distribution.
Cheers, and stay safe!
