Elton John definitely knows how to make a dramatic exit.

About a week after his blockbuster farewell tour brought him to a sold-out Amalie Arena in Tampa, John has announced a second farewell tour stop in our fair city next spring. He’ll return to Amalie Arena on May 26. Tickets start at $65.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 22. Click here for details.

There were rumors floating around that this might happen. John had already started double-dipping into select cities on this farewell tour, including Jacksonville, which he’ll play again next summer. The fact that he had already disrupted plenty of Tampa Bay fans’ plans with one postponement meant he probably owed the city a makeup date.

But if you missed out on tickets to see him last week — and you probably did; floor seats were being resold for as much as $2,000 — this is a splurge you should make. Sir Elton’s career-spanning concert was one of the best Tampa has seen all year. As we wrote in our review:

“For nearly three hours, ol’ Reg had fans spanning three or four generations up and roaring, screaming and sobbing, proffering countless standing Os as he tickled, pounded and flat-out pulverized his ivories one last time. Between numbers he stood up from his piano, wagging his arms and pointing his fingers and exhorting the crowd to keep standing and hollering all night.”

And if you do want to go, get your tickets early. The last show sold out early, and stayed that way despite the initial postponement. There’s only one Elton, and as Amalie Arena said on Instagram, this really could be his “one last time” in Tampa. Really. For real. We think.
