Tired: Concerts getting canceled due to coronavirus.
Wired: Concert getting announced despite coronavirus.
The Killers on Thursday announced a new tour that’ll bring them to the Amway Center in Orlando on Sept. 16. The Smiths’ Johnny Marr will open the show. Tickets go on sale March 20. Click here for details.
The announcement comes with news about a new single, Caution, from the band’s forthcoming new album Imploding the Mirage, coming in May. Caution is a timely title, given how many artists have canceled or postponed tours and concerts due to concern over COVID-19, or coronavirus.
But the Killers, who recently played two shows in Tampa in November and December, are choosing to look on the, um, bright side.
“We’ve been putting this tour together for a long time and we are extremely excited to finally share it with you,” the band said in a statement. “We have, of course, been paying close attention to the recent precautionary measures around the world and trust that the coronavirus is expected to follow traditional flu season patterns. We look forward to a great summer of shows. Look after each other — sing the chorus of Mr. Brightside when you wash your hands — and see you this summer!”
