Deputy Editor, Investigations

I’m the Tampa Bay Times’ deputy editor overseeing investigative reporting. I run our investigations team, which includes both reporters and computer programmers. We do complicated stories that can take months. We aim to reveal cases of regular people in Tampa Bay and across Florida being hurt by powerful forces outside their control. Before I became an editor, I reported on police officers who abused their authority, faulty voting machines and local corruption. Reporters I supervised at the Times have contributed to two projects that won Pulitzer Prizes. Before that, I was part of a reporting team that was a finalist for another Pulitzer at Newsday.
