Amy Hollyfield - Senior Deputy Editor

Senior Deputy Editor

My heart is in Florida politics, but my job as senior deputy editor for news covers all of Tampa Bay life. Traffic. Education. Health Care. The Good Samaritan story, the unexpected surprise. I also work with PolitiFact and was part of the team awarded the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. My home state is Michigan, but I've lived in Tampa Bay for more than 20 years, raising two daughters and proudly watching two downtowns grow into remarkable destinations. Underneath it all is my commitment to the Tampa Bay Times, a company that cares deeply about this community. As do I.

And should Rick Scott think more about his home state?
  6. Edmund Kirby Smith
Meanwhile, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri’s profile keeps rising.

Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture sure has a funny way of taking a stand?
  8. Florida Department of Corrections Gadsden Re-Entry Center located in Havana Florida. Photo from the Florida Department of Corrections.
The Department of Corrections, however, continues a losing streak.
  9. This image shows cars backed up attempting to exit a parking garage on June 12 at Tampa International Airport. The image was sent by airport Vice President John Tiliacos to Conduent, the company that operates the SunPass system, on June 13. A SunPass problem caused the backup. The image was obtained in a records request with Tampa International Airport.
But President Donald Trump’s labor secretary has a bad week because of a deal he made long ago when he was the U.S. Attorney in South Florida.

But Israeli’s tourism economy scores a win, thanks to a very large Florida delegation.
