As a first-year Floridian, I’m already learning to love this place. I work with our reporting crews in Pasco and Hernando counties to cover the North Suncoast and generally keep an eye on things up here. I’m a hiker, a horsewoman and a newspaper editor of 30 years, happy to be practicing her craft so close to our family in Brooksville. This community is not Tampa or St. Pete. We are our own flavor of folks on the frontier between old Florida and the burgeoning burbs. And we are full of good stories to tell.

  1. Meridian Apartments on N 50th St. in Tampa is one of about 100 apartment complexes that participated in Tampa Police Department's Crime-Free Multi Housing program.
  2. Beach goers are seen along Ben T. Davis Beach on May 4, 2020 in Tampa.
  3. Patient Lagretta Lenker receives her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from nurse Mary Ellen Chacon in Tampa on Wednesday. Hillsborough County has announced plans to vaccinate residents 65 and older starting next week.
  4. Michael Sapp, of Lutz, brought his two daughters and his nephew to Rogers Park in Hernando Beach Monday for their first day of spring break. It also was the last day the beach was open before Hernando County officials closed it due to concerns about coronavirus.
