A 5-foot-2, ambitious and feisty journalist, probably chasing a crime story I’m a metro intern at Tampa Bay Times based in its Pasco and Hernando bureaus. I graduated with a journalism degree from University of Florida in May 2019. I served as the spring 2019 editor-in-chief of The Independent Florida Alligator, one of the largest independent student-run newspapers. I was a crime and justice intern at the Chicago Tribune in summer 2018. I also previously served a general assignments internship at The Gainesville Sun and a breaking news and crime internship at The Palm Beach Post. I’ve also held the positions as the engagement managing editor, freelance editor, UF administration reporter and student government reporter at The Alligator.

  1. The University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences - Pasco Extension opened an incubator kitchen on Sept. 23. It's  at 15029 14th Street in Dade City. The goal of the kitchen is to create educational opportunities for food entrepreneurs and help them to start new businesses. Whitney Eleamor (center left) developed the idea for the kitchen.
    The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week for the Pasco County Extension Service community kitchen.
  2. Harleme Larry is led from a Pasco County courtroom in 2013 after being sentenced to life at age 18. Larry was just 14 at the time of the murder that landed him in prison.
    After he finally won acquittal, Harleme Larry celebrated with a song in a Pasco courtroom. Now, he’s adjusting to life outside prison.
  3. Hernando County sheriff's deputies are seeking this vehicle in connection with a shooting that left a man wounded in a Spring Hill church parking lot. Anyone with information about this vehicle should call (352) 754-6830.
    The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has not released the victim’s name, whether anyone is in custody or said what led to the shooting.
  4. Pasco firefighter Hunter Garcia and his wife, Kayla, and their 5-month-old daughter, Clara, were involved in a Hillsborough County crash. Clara died from her injuries on Sunday. A funeral will be held Wednesday.
    Firefighter Hunter Garcia and his family were in a multi-vehicle crash on Sept. 13. His infant daughter, Clara, died two days later.

    The crash occurred on Moon Lake Road near Knotty Pine Drive on Thursday night.
  6. A 16-year-old was hit by a truck Tuesday morning after he darted out across Little Road, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
    The 16-year-old was hit at the intersection of Schader Blvd. and Little Road in New Port Richey.
  7. Joshua Michael Nichols, 21, was arrested by Pasco County Sheriff's deputies on Saturday in connection to the early morning shooting death of an unidentified man during an argument outside a Spring Hill home. [Pasco County Sheriff's Office]
    One person is in custody. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
