Bill Nelson named to budget conference

Florida Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson will have a seat on the 28-member congressional group charged with negotiating a long-term budget deal by Dec. 13.

"The way I see this, every member of Congress has a responsibility to put aside partisan political differences in favor of finding common-sense solutions," said Nelson, a member of the Finance and Budget committees.

The bipartisan, bicameral conference committee was created as part of the deal the House and Senate passed Wednesday night to end the 16-day government shutdown and avoid a financial default. The conferees: Democrats from the Senate
