How did that song from Smokey and the Bandit by Jerry Reed go? Oh yes…

"They call you the bandit – an outlaw untamed
Shackled only by freedom, you wear no man's chain
Some say they despise you, well maybe they do
But deep down inside them, I bet they wish they were you"

Fans of Burt Reynolds, who died last week at age 82, will get to hear that tune again while watching a handful of his classic performances when Turner Classic Movies turns over their cable station to the Bandit on Dec. 26. TCM has already released a promo video for the event.

While it's hard to pick just a few of Reynolds' works – he appeared in more than 20 films in the '80s alone – TCM has narrowed in on six movies. Here's the lineup for Dec. 26, according to

  • 8:00 p.m. Smokey and the Bandit (1977)
  • 10:00 p.m. Deliverance (1972)
  • 12:00 a.m. The Longest Yard (1974)
  • 2:15 a.m. Hooper (1978)
  • 4:15 a.m. Smokey and the Bandit II (1980)
  • 6:00 a.m. Best Friends (1982)
