We here at Stuck in the '80s are on the books as not being the biggest fans of horror movies – in our beloved decade and beyond. But we still couldn't resist checking out the first trailer for the remake of Stephen King's Pet Sematary. (Watch it here.)
With the success of Stranger Things on Netflix and other horror offerings at the box office, it's no surprise that Hollywood would mine of King's best efforts in the '80s for another go-round.
Of course, 25 seconds into the trailer, I was already covering my eeys. Add in the creepy voice of John Lithgow as "Jud Crandall" and that about does it for me. Watch it at your own risk. I don't need the additional nightmares.
The original 1989 version of Pet Sematary was far from a total success. It scored mixed reviews at best from critics and launched a wildly derided sequel in 1992. Still the franchise lives on. How appropriate.
Pet Sematary reaches theaters on April 5, 2019.
