Reboot mania continues to grip Hollywood this frightening month as two more cult horror movie cult classics from the '80s have been tapped for comebacks. This time, it's the ever-so-unlikely Critters and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.
Bloody-disgusting.com – easily the best name for a horror movie website ever – reports that Syfy is in talks to buy the remake rights for the two films. Neither movie was a box office smash in the '80s, but both have gained legions of fans over the years. (Critters even spawned a few sequels.)
Critters was the 1986 flick that tried to capitalize on the success of Gremlins – basically taking those cute cuddly creatures, giving them sharp teeth and placing them in outer space. Likewise, 1988's Killer Klowns … oh, please don't make me explain this movie. The title basically gives it all away anyway.
Apparently, Syfy is banking on the reboot model to fill their coffers in the coming years, says Movieweb.com. Whether Critters and Killer Klowns will be actually make it to production, though, is anybody's guess. Just keep your eyes on the skies, I'd say.
