Bucs quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was named NFC offensive player of the week following his performance in Sunday's 48-40 win over the Saints.

Pressed into duty with starter Jameis Winston suspended for the first three games of the season, Fitzpatrick completed 21 of 28 passes for 417 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. His 156.2 passer rating was nearly perfect.

Fitzpatrick also ran for 36 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. His 12-yard run on 3rd-and-11 on the final drive essentially clinched the game for the Bucs.

Tampa Bay's 48 points tied a franchise single-game record. Its 529 yards of offense were second-most in team history.

The honor was the sixth player of the week award for Fitzpatrick during his career. He previously won it with the Jets (three times), Rams and Texans.
