Count ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit among a growing group that thinks Jimbo Fisher will be leaving Florida State for Texas A&M.

"I'm just assuming he's gone," Herbstreit said Friday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C., where he'll be calling tomorrow's ACC title game between Miami and Clemson.

"If he leaves, I'm anxious to hear what he says."

So is everyone else. Fisher hasn't addressed the rumors, sticking to his policy of not talking about other jobs. That has only increased the speculation that he's headed to College Station.

The situation might not be salvageable. Don't be surprised if something is announced, or decided, today – before the Louisiana-Monroe game.

In the meantime, Herbstreit mentioned two potential candidates – USF coach Charlie Strong and former USF coach Willie Taggart (now at Oregon).

"There's all this talk about Willie Taggart, Charlie Strong," Herbstreit said. "Those guys are great candidates and have enough experience in that state recruiting that they could do a very good job.

"I'm like you. I'm kind of sitting, waiting to see what happens."
