Here's one update that shouldn't get lost in the shuffle of the inaugural early signing period: Former Armwood High star Byron Cowart is headed to Maryland.

Cowart was Rivals' No. 1 overall recruit in 2015. He committed to Auburn that signing day, then had a drama-filled seven-hour stretch where he considered the Gators before eventually signing with Auburn after all.

His career there didn't pan out. He totaled 15 tackles over two seasons and change before deciding to transfer during the 2017 season.

Cowart will be playing for Maryland coach DJ Durkin, who was the Gators' defensive coordinator from 2013-14.
