The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a written threat found on a bathroom wall at East Lake High School warning students not to come to school Friday.

The threat, which was discovered around dismissal time Thursday, was also posted on Snapchat.

"Careful, don't come to school Friday 2-23. You'll see why." A smile was drawn next to the threat.

According to an email sent out by principal Carmela Haley, school staff and law enforcement are conducting a safety sweep of the school. There will also be an increased police presence at the school Friday.

"While law enforcement officers indicate that the threat is most likely not credible, we will have extra police presence at our campus tomorrow as a precaution," Haley wrote. "We will remain dedicated to following up on any information we receive. Thank you for your ongoing support. Together we can maintain the safety of all students and faculty."
