Hillsborough school district will sell more land

The Hillsborough County School District stands to raise close to $3 million by selling off surplus land in a series of transactions that will come before the School Board on Tuesday.

The board already approved a $575,000 deal on an office building in Hyde Park that the district no longer needs.

Three more transactions are up for approval on Tuesday's agenda: $1.2 million for a vacant lot at Donna Lu Drive and Gunn Highway in Odessa, $51,300 for a lot on the property of Edison Elementary School at N 16th Street and Osborne Avenue in East Tampa, and $1.075 million for a property at Lithia Pinecreast Road southeast of FishHawk Trails Drive.

Separately, the district released more information about the Lee Elementary rebuilding proposal.

According to a meeting agenda document, Sedgwick Claims Management, an insurance adjuster that represents multiple insurance companies involved with this claim, has agreed to pay as much as $16,116,407 to rebuild the fire-damaged school. That's nearly double the $9.2 million that had been discussed previously.

The plan calls for Fleischman-Garcia Architects and JE Dunn Construction, a team that the board approved hiring on Oct. 2, to take full charge of the project, including the bidding for the work.
