Middleton High School principal Kim Moore is soon to be promoted to a district position.

But she is not leaving Middleton right away.

Pending approval by the School Board on Dec. 4,  Moore, 61, will replace Tanly Cabrera as the district's director of administration. Cabrera is retiring on Nov. 16.

The plan, according to district spokeswoman Tanya Arja, is for Moore to split her time between Middleton and the downtown job until her replacement is named. The district is conducting interviews and will seek community input as part of the process.

News of Moore's pending departure got out during a ceremony leading into Friday's football game, when the announcer wished her luck and Moore waved to the fans.

Moore joined the school district in 2000.  She was named principal of Middleton, the district's premier science and technology high school, in 2014. She replaced Owen Young, who is now an area superintendent.

Moore's job as director of administration will be slightly different from Cabrara's, Arja said. The expectation is that Moore will work closely with Chief of Schools Harrison Peters and will have more direct involvement with the schools.
