Hillsborough County School District officials will name a new principal for Smith Middle School to replace JoAnn Johnson, who is retiring.

Smith, in Citrus Park, is one of the district’s newer schools. Despite its early popularity, it has lost enrollment in recent years to competition from the International Baccalaureate program at Walker Middle School in Odessa; and nearby charter schools Henderson Hammock, SLAM and Avant Garde.

The district has not yet settled on a principal for Middleton High School, where school leader Kim Moore was promoted to director of administration. Moore has been dividing her time between the district job and her responsibilities at Middleton.

Tuesday’s 3 p.m. agenda also includes contracts for two new charter schools: Navigator Academy of Leadership and Riverview Academy of Math and Science.
