The Hillsborough County School Board on Tuesday approved Robert Stingone to be the next principal of Eisenhower Middle School, effective July 1.

Stingone, 45 and a district employee since 2001, replaces Johan von Ancken, the onetime Hillsborough High School principal who has resigned.

Stingone has spent most of his career at Dowdell Middle School, working as a guidance counselor and then assistant principal. He moved in 2017 to Shields Middle also as an assistant principal.

The district on Tuesday also announced three other changes that will open up leadership slots.

Principals Michael Bobo of Giunta Middle, Cindy Land of Turner/Bartels K-8 and Heath Beauregard of Adams Middle are all joining the ranks of “administrator on special assignment.”

In addition, Lourdes Hernandez-Gonzalez, who was instrumental in the Title 6 agreement to remove Native American mascots from six schools, is being transferred from the district’s school social work department to the Office of Diversity.
