The Hillsborough County School Board on Tuesday gave its preliminary approval to a property tax rate of $6.129 per $1,000 of home value.
The percentage rate is lower than the current year’s rate, reflecting rising property values.
The owner of a $200,000 home with a $25,000 homestead exemption would pay $1,078.58.
The board also approved the $3.3 billion budget for 2019-2020. The second and final public hearing is at 5:01 p.m. Sept. 10.
