Injured Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman is traveling with the team on this week's four-game road trip to Western Canada, a good sign he's getting closer to a return.

Hedman, who suffered a lower-body injury Jan. 11, has resumed skating on his own, but will need some practice time with Tampa Bay before rejoining the lineup.

Thursday is the three-week mark in the expected three-to-six week prognosis. The Lightning plays in Winnipeg on Tuesday, with stops in Calgary on Thursday, Vancouver on Saturday and Edmonton on Monday.

Hedman's injury held him out of Sunday's NHL All-Star Game, though he did have a role as an assistant to the equipment manager.
