Barry Trotz left the Lightning disappointed the last time he was at Amalie Arena.
Trotz and the Capitals shut out Tampa Bay in Games 6 and 7 to win the Eastern Conference final last year. Now he's back; this time at the Islanders' helm.
After finishing seventh in the Metropolitan last year, Trotz's John Tavares-less Islanders lead the division through 15 games.
Brock Nelson leads the way with seven goals. Josh Bailey's 15 points are most on the team.
Robin Lehner gets the start in net. He has a record of 4-2-1 with 2.45 goals against and a .928 save percentage. In his career against the Lightning, Lehner has a 3-6-1 record with 31 goals allowed and a .903 save percentage.
Jon Cooper on the Islanders:
"When John left the team in the summer, I think there was an automatic, 'Well, the Islanders aren't going to be any good.' And it's clear they're not a one-man team."
On Anders Lee as captain, who Cooper coached in juniors: "I can't say enough about him as a human being. For someone who got knocked on his skating, to come in the league and do what he's doing. I think that's part of why they're doing so well, they made a really wise choice in their captain."
