There’s suddenly an abundance of talent from Studio 8H set to appear on stage in Tampa on the same weekend.

Saturday Night Live’s Cecily Strong will be at the University of South Florida tonight to perform a free show at the Yuengling Center as part of the university’s homecoming celebrations.

Meanwhile, fellow SNL castmate Leslie Jones has five sold-out shows scheduled at the Tampa Improv in Ybor City tonight through Sunday.

And just to make things interesting, last week’s New York Times profile of SNL’s longest-running cast member ever, Kenan Thompson, was reported from Tampa, where Thompson spends time in the summers when SNL is on break (recent stories in both Southern Living and Vanity Fair have referred to Tampa as Thompson’s “home base"), and in the past he has been seen eating at Datz.

“Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost, by the way, just announced a show in Clearwater on Oct. 25. Guess he didn’t get the memo that the summer SNL meetup was in Florida this week.

So what are the chances of some kind of crossover cameo action on stage this weekend, or perhaps just spotting some combination of Jones, Thompson or Strong sharing a plate of kettle chips in Tampa or a cocktail in Ybor City over the next few days?

Strong’s show at USF tonight is set to begin at 8 p.m., the exact same time as Jones' Friday night set at the Improv, so don’t cross your fingers for crossover there, unless Strong sticks around town another day or two.

And Thompson’s busy on Friday too. He’s scheduled to perform twice at the at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Although if he’s headed back to Tampa after that, he’s got until Sunday to link up with Jones for a Cuban sandwich or something.

Then again, Thompson’s wife Christina Evangeline did just give birth to the couple’s second child, a girl, three weeks ago in Tampa. Maybe he’d rather spend the rest of his summer vacation at home?

In other words, it’s a real longshot that we’ll see any of the SNL cast together in Tampa this weekend.

A sure bet will be to tune in to NBC when Saturday Night Live returns this fall. The network hasn’t announced a premiere date yet, but it usually comes back in late September or early October.
