Michelle Margaux has been hired as the new in-game reporter for Fox Sports Sun telecasts of Rays games .
Margaux, 25, comes to the Rays telecasts from Fox Sports San Diego, where for the last two seasons she worked as an in-game reporter for about 35 Padres games and hosted the weekly Padres POV show. She also covered hockey and a variety of college and high school sports. Before that, she spent nearly two years working at the NBC affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas, covering news and sports.
Margaux will serve as the lead in-game reporter, covering 130 games, and host of select "Inside the Rays" episodes. That increased opportunity is what led her to pursue the job, replacing Alex Corddry. Margaux will be the fourth reporter on the job in the last five years, following Kelly Nash, Emily Austen and Corddry. Plus Todd Kalas left after the 2016 season to become the Astros play-by-play man.
"It was really the chance to do more games and get more experience," Margaux said. "I'm really excited to be immersed in the atmosphere every day instead of doing a series a month."
Margaux, who attended the University of San Diego, majoring in communications and political science, said baseball has always been her passion.
Margaux will make her first appearance for Fox Sports Sun at the Rays Feb. 10 Fanfest at Tropicana Field. She will join the broadcast crew that includes Dewayne Staats, Brian Anderson, Doug Waechter, Rich Hollenberg and Orestes Destrade.
