UPDATE, 11:35: Cash said OF Carlos Gomez, who agreed to a one-year $4M deal last week, is expected in Florida on Friday and in camp on Saturday, thanking staffer George Pappas for his work in expediting the visa issues. Gomez is likely to start playing games by mid-week. … Veteran relievers Alex Colome, Sergio Romo and Daniel Hudson are slated for their first game action by Saturday. LHP Anthony Banda, acquired from Arizona in the Steven Souza Jr. trade, is likely to make his Rays debut on Friday. … Cash said Hechavarria's issue is with his hamstring, not his knee, and not a concern.

UPDATE, 9:10: SS Adeiny Hechavarria said the reason he has not played since Sunday is tightness behind his right knee, the result of an odd situation — slipping while taking ground balls on Monday wearing tennis shoes rather than spikes.

3B Matt Duffy said  said no red alert is necessary on him being scratched from Tuesday's lineup: "No issues with the foot. Just a little back spasm. It'll be a couple days. It's pretty anti-climactic." Also, he's had them before.

And 1B/2B Brad Miller said he, too, expects to be out a few more days due to the broken right pinky toe, the main issue that it doesn't impact how he runs and cause other issues as he is coming off October core muscle surgery,

DEVELOPING: Now-injured RHP Brent Honeywell and RHP Yonny Chirinos get most of the attention among the Rays advanced starting prospects, but LHP Ryan Yarbrough can make a pretty good pitch to be included.

Yarbrough, acquired before last season in the Drew Smyly trade to Seattle, had a solid season at Triple-A Durham himself, going 13-6, 3.43 in 26 starts.

Here is the Rays lineup, with INF Daniel Robertson getting his first game action in the outfield as the Rays seek to expand his versatility:
