UPDATE, 7:54: 3B Matt Duffy said his sore right hamstring is feeling better and assuming he can run the bases today with no unexpected issues he is on track to return to the lineup on Saturday, though potentially as the DH. … That's helpful for the Rays because SS Adeiny Hechavarria said though his right hamstring felt better than when he came out of Thursday's game he was still sore. The Rays plan to re-evaluate him Saturday and a move to the DL is still possible. … Cash talked further about the plan for Saturday to start RHP Sergio Romo, who said he is very excited about the opportunity for the first time as a major-leaguer and, among other things, he may use a windup for his first pitch. Also that he may be warming up in the pen while the Rays are hitting in the top of the first, though he also likes the idea of walking in slowly from the bullpen wearing a jacket with a towel on his shoulder and carrying a sports drink.
Here is the Angels lineup, without Justin Upton who is still sore after being hit by a Chris Archer pitch Thursday:
Cozart 2b
Simmons ss
Trout cf
Pujols 1b
Ohtani dh
Marte 3b
Maldonado c
Young lf
Hermosillo rf
Tropeano p
DEVELOPING: Looking for a fifth straight win, the 20-22 Rays will send LHP Blake Snell tonight against the Angels with a 10:07 first pitch.
SS Adeiny Hechavarria, who left Thursday's game in the second inning with a right hamstring strain is not in the lineup but still on the active roster, which seems to mean they got a good report this morning don't expect him to land on DL (since they didn't call up a replacement), though he is unlikely to be available tonight.
The Rays may be further limited in that 3B Matt Duffy is also not playing, taking another day, as planned, to deal with his own right hamstring issue, having left Tuesday's game.
