The Rays acknowledged what seemed obvious and placed SS Adeiny Hechavarria on the 10-day DL Saturday due to the right hamstring strain he sustained on Thursday.

And to take place his place on the roster, they not only didn't call up top prospect INF Willy Adames, nor any of the other position players at Triple-A Durham, but once again opted to add a fresh arm to their constantly taxed bullpen in RHP Ryne Stanek.

Stanek had been with the Rays at the start of the roadtrip in Baltimore, allowed a grand slam on Friday night and worked an inning in Saturday's doubleheader, then sent down.

He wasn't required to stay down for the usually required 10 days since the Rays had a DL move.

Hechavarria has been playing his usual stellar defense and providing some offense. Daniel Robertson will be the primary replacement.
