UPDATE, 2:59: Gomez said he felt something in his groin running out his triple Wednesday night but it was not as severe as when he ended up on the DL a couple weeks ago, is available if needed today and expects to be in the lineup Friday. … Cash said they are leaning toward using Romo as the game "opener" on Friday in Seattle but will not stay away from using him today. … RHP Austin Pruitt is likely to work the bulk of the innings.
Here is the A's lineup, with 3 lefty hitters at the top to face Stanek.
UPDATE, 1:03: RF Carlos Gomez is not in the lineup as expected today after leaving Wednesday's game for what Cash said were precautionary reasons after experiencing "lower half tightness" with Field playing right and Refsnyder getting the start in left against A's RHP Mengden.
Here is the Rays lineup:
DEVELOPING: Having won the first three, the Rays are looking today to complete a rare four-game road sweep of the A's.
Overall, the Rays have won five straight.
RHP Ryne Stanek will be on the mound for the Rays as the game "opener," charged with getting three to six outs before handing off, likely to LHP Ryan Yarbrough.
Stanek made a successful opening debut on Saturday vs. Baltimore, and manager Kevin Cash said the Rays think there is an advantage in having a pitcher throwing 100 mph from the start of a game.
The A's have reinstated DH Khris Davis from the 10-day disabled list and sent down RHP Carlos Ramirez.
Lineups when available.
