The Rays announced Wednesday morning they have placed LHP Jose Alvarado on the family emergency medical-leave list. As a result, RHP Andrew Kittredge has been recalled from Durham.

"It's a personal medical issue with a family member, " Rays manager Kevin Cash said.

Alvarado is expected to be out through the All-Star break. He recorded his first win in his 76th career appearance Tuesday night, working two relief innings in the Rays' 5-2 win.
