Will the Rays win an American League East title under manager Kevin Cash, who on Tuesday had his contract extended through 2024?
Times sports columnist Tom Jones and staff writer Rick Stroud debated the topic on Bay News 9's Spectrum Sports 360 show.
"I'm gonna say they will," Stroud began. "I just think they have a young core of players, whether it's Willy Adames or Jake Bauers, those guys have won everywhere they've been. I like their future. I like their pitching. I like what they're doing with this opener thing, and Kevin Cash seems to be the right guy.
"Now, look, it's not going to be easy with the Yankees and the Red Sox," he acknowledged. "Those are both young teams. But they can't always win 100 games each, right? There's gonna be a year when (the Rays) might get them."

Countered Jones, "When you look at this Red Sox team — Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, all these young players, all these young pitchers — you look at the Yankees — (Aaron) Judge, (Giancarlo) Stanton are still in their prime — I can see them winning for the next 10 years, dominating for the next 10 years."
