The Rays made their first move of the off-season, signing LHP Ryan Sherriff to a minor-league deal.

Sherriff, 28, is recovering from June Tommy John elbow surgery so at best would be a late-season addition to the big-league roster.

He has pitched parts of two seasons with the Cardinals, posting a 2-1, 4.05 record over 18 games in 2017-18.

He was with the Cardinals made the 2017 Players Weekend visit, creating the matchup of Sherriff vs. Outlaw when he faced Rays CF Kevin Kiermaier.

Sherriff will not be invited to big-league camp.

Also, Rays LHP Blake Snell will be in New York on Wednesday, making a series of morning appearances on ESPN shows.
