We'll have to wait a little longer to get our first look at the reconfigured State Theatre.
Singer-songwriter Andy Grammer has moved his Sept. 28 concert from the State in St. Pete to the Ritz Ybor in Tampa. This comes on the heels of news that the Main Squeeze have moved their Nov. 16 show from the State to the Orpheum. That leaves one show still on the books for the State — Sebastian Bach on Nov. 3 — but that could very well move, too.
This isn't the first time a stretch of shows has had to flee the State Theatre. Last fall, a string of shows departed for venues like Jannus Live due to capacity issues stemming from a string of fire code violations at the historic club.
After being on the market for months, the State sold in June to St. Petersburg real estate broker Kevin Chadwick, who promised a months-long renovation and restoration that would stretch into 2019.
All tickets to both the Andy Grammer and Main Squeeze shows will be honored at the new venues.
