Orchestra to blitz area with pop-ups

TFO On the Go will hit museums, restaurants and the airport

The Florida Orchestra opens its 51st season Sept. 28 with Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. But you might see them around a week before that.

For the third year, “TFO on the Go,” a series of free pop-up concerts, will surprise most customers at area venues, the orchestra has announced. The action starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 21, when clarinetist Natalie Hoe, violist Jonas Benson and Brent Douglas on the piano perform a variety of classic selections in the Marley Room of the Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Dr NE, St. Petersburg.

At noon Sept. 21, violinists Yuan-Yuan Wang and Zubaida Azezi, along with violist Derek Mosloff and cellist Doniyor Zuparov will play at the Armature Works, 1910 Ola Ave., Tampa.

At 7 p.m. Sept. 21, a brass quintet consisting of Rob Smith and Perry Landmeyer on trumpet,  Andrew Karr on horn, Joël Vaisse on trombone, and Bill Mickelson on tuba will greet travelers in a newly opened event space between Airsides A and C at Tampa International Airport.

At noon Sept. 22, a reed trio featuring  Jeffrey Stephenson on oboe, Joseph Beverly on clarinet and Maurizio Venturini on bassoon will perform at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd, Dunedin.

And at 3 p.m. Sept. 22, Jeffrey Stephenson on oboe, Joseph Beverly on clarinet, and Maurizio Venturini on bassoon greet customers at the Leepa-Rattner Museum, on the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College, 600 E Klosterman Rd, Tarpon Springs.
