Detectives still looking for shooter in Plant City murder

PLANT CITY — Detectives are still searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting that took place Friday night.

The incident took place at about 10 p.m. at Springhead Park in the 3400 block of Nesmith Road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. A caller to 911 reported hearing gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they wound a wounded man who was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. The gunshot victim was later pronounced dead there.

The Sheriff's Office has not released the identity of the victim, but did say that detectives do not believe this was a random shooting.
