TAMPA — Elton John has postponed Wednesday's sold-out farewell tour concert in Tampa due to an ear infection.
According to Amalie Arena, the postponement was decided on "doctor's orders," but the show would be postponed "to a date to be determined." Tickets for Wednesday's show will be honored at the rescheduled date, which will be announced shortly. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.
John was supposed to perform Tuesday at the Amway Center in Orlando, but about a half hour after that sold-out show was supposed to start, the venue announced that the show would be postponed due to an ear infection.
Replying to an angry fan on Twitter, the Amway Center added: "Elton John was in the building and the news was shared with us immediately prior to the PA announcement being made."
While a new date was not immediately announced, the spring leg of the tour is current scheduled to end on March 16 in Sunrise, so rescheduling the Orlando and Tampa shows for around then could be an option.
