A 48-year-old New Jersey man has died after being hit by a car Thursday morning in east Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

At about 8:15 a.m. on July 18, Rafael Crescente Jr. of East Brunswick, New Jersey, was walking southbound through the westbound lanes of U.S. 92 near Walton Way. He was not using a crosswalk, the release said.

At the same time, Cynthia Murphy, 73, of Tampa, was headed eastbound on U.S. 92. Murphy then made a left turn into a Suncoast Credit Union.

Murphy hit Crescente with her 2009 Ford as she made the turn, the release said.

Crescente was taken to Tampa General Hospital after the crash. He died Sunday, according to the release.

No charges have been filed in the wake of the accident.
