A 27-year-old motorcyclist died after a Friday night accident on Interstate 275, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a release.
Charles Brackett of St. Petersburg was riding his 2017 Yamaha southbound in the left lane of the highway near downtown St. Petersburg about 10:00 p.m., the release said. At the same time, Johnny Cardona, 43 and of Sunny Isles, was driving a 2018 Toyota sedan in the center lane. Ahead of both Brackett and Cordona in the left lane was Albert Marchione, 20, of St. Petersburg, driving a 2015 Ford truck.
Brackett tried to pass both Cordona and Marchione, but he lost control of his motorcycle, the release said. He ran into Cardona's sedan and fell from his motorcycle. Brackett was then hit by Marchione's truck.
The motorcyclist was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
