A Hudson man trying to cross State Road 52 on foot early Sunday morning died after three different cars hit him, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins wrote in a release.

Just after 12:30 a.m., Jay Kimmel, 59, of Hudson, began to walk north across half a dozen lanes of traffic near where State Road 52 intersects with Choctaw Trail. Three cars, one driven by Rachael Bradley, 22, of Hudson; another by Jayde Devries, 23, of Port Richey and the third by Nathaniel Johnston, 52, of Spring Hill, were headed eastbound along the road at that time.

All three cars hit Kimmel after the man "entered the path of the approaching vehicles," Gaskins wrote in the release. All three cars were traveling in the inside lane.

Kimmel died at the scene, Gaskins said.

No charges were filed in the incident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol release.
