Video: Vehicle seen fleeing after fatal shooting in St. Pete's Old Northeast

St. Petersburg police are searching for a blue 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe (top) that may be involved in a shooting incident with a black BMW (bottom) that left one man dead and another in critical condition on Wednesday in the Historic Old Northeast neighborhood. ST. PETERSBURG — One man is dead and another left in critical condition after being wounded by gunfire, then crashing their car into a tree Wednesday afternoon in the Historic Old Northeast neighborhood, police said.

Police are searching for a blue 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe that was caught on video pulling away after gunshots were fired at the black BMW, which crashed soon afterward.

The shooting took place in the 1700 block of Bay Street NE, police said. The BMW traveled four blocks after the shooting, then crashed into a tree at First Street NE near 20th Avenue N.

Police were called to the crash scene at about 4:20 p.m. When they arrived on scene they discovered the two men inside, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The deceased was identified as Quentin Hicks, 42, of St. Petersburg. The identity of the other wounded man was not released by police.
