St. Petersburg pedestrian killed while crossing Central Avenue

A woman was struck and killed by a car Saturday night while crossing a St. Petersburg street.

Casandra Jean Estro, 43, was walking from the north side of Central Avenue to the south side near 64th Street about 9:15 p.m., according to a news release from the St. Petersburg Police Department.

That's when Estro was hit by a westbound Nissan Pathfinder driven by John Anthony Barone.

Estro was taken to Palms of Pasadena Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

St. Petersburg Police were still investigating the crash as of Sunday morning.
