A 36-year-old Tampa man was arrested Wednesday in connection with two attempted robberies, according to St. Petersburg police. He may also be a suspect in up to nine other cases reported on both sides of the bay in the past five days.

Ted Benjamin Grossman faces Pinellas two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and three Hillsborough counts of robbery with a firearm, according to jail records.

In the two St. Petersburg cases, police say Grossman entered the business, pointed a firearm at employees and demanded money. But he never fired, police said.

He was arrested in Tampa at 4:30 a.m. at 4423 W Culbreath Ave.

More charges are pending. He was being held in the Pinellas County jail late Wednesday in lieu of $345,000 bail.
