TAMPA — A bicyclist was killed in a traffic accident Sunday morning in Tampa, police said.
The cyclist, Reginald Knight, 57, according to his sister, was headed north on 26th Street into the intersection of Columbus Drive about 4:30 a.m.
At the same time, the driver of a Toyota sedan was headed east on Columbus Drive into the same intersection.
The driver crashed into the cyclist, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Authorities took the injured man to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
The driver was also hurt in the crash, police said.
Police did not name the cyclist or the driver in a news release about the incident. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
However, Knight's younger sister, Wanda Tillman, confirmed her brother's death Sunday.
Knight's family gathered at his mother's home in Tampa to mourn, remember and celebrate.
Tillman described her brother as a generous man who vociferously rooted on his hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"He just loved helping everybody," Tillman said of her brother.
