WESLEY CHAPEL — An 85-year-old man was fatally injured Thursday after turning in front of another vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at about 12:19 p.m. at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Eagleston Boulevard.

William Bologneta, of Wesley Chapel, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic east on Eagleston Boulevard, according to the Highway Patrol. Layton Wilkinson, 19, of Valrico, was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry south on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

Bologneta made a left turn onto northbound Bruce B. Downs and ended up driving into the Toyota’s path, troopers said. The Toyota crashed into the driver’s side of the Honda.

Bologneta was taken to St. Josephs Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Wilkinson suffered minor injuries. Both men were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. No charges are pending.
